I’m looking for a preceptor who is experienced, patient, and committed to mentoring Nurse Practitioner students. Ideally, they should:
• Specialize in my field of interest (family practice, pediatrics, women's health, or geriatrics) to ensure I gain relevant clinical experience.
• Have a teaching mindset, willing to explain concepts, provide feedback, and gradually increase my responsibilities as I build confidence.
• Be accessible and engaged, offering guidance without being too hands-off or overly rigid.
• Work in a diverse clinical setting where I can see a variety of cases, perform hands-on assessments, and develop treatment plans.
• Encourage independent decision-making while ensuring patient safety and reinforcing critical thinking skills.
• Be professional and respected by colleagues, with strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Be willing to complete necessary evaluations and documentation for my NP program.
• Have a manageable patient load so that they can dedicate time to my learning while maintaining efficient patient care.
• Be in a location that fits my schedule and travel capabilities to ensure I can complete my required hours consistently.

Ultimately, I want a preceptor who is supportive, knowledgeable, and helps me transition from student to a confident, competent NP.
