Robert Chodo Campbell co-founded the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care, the first Buddhist organization to offer fully accredited chaplaincy training in America. The organization delivers contemplative approaches to care through education, direct service and meditation practice. In order to bring the work to a broader audience, he co-developed the Foundations in Buddhist Contemplative Care Training Program. Chodo is an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Buddhist Studies. He is Co-Director of Contemplative Care Services for the Department of Integrative Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center. Chodo is a dynamic, earthy, and visionary leader and teacher. His public programs have introduced thousands to the practices of mindful and compassionate care of the living and dying. 30,000 people listen to his podcasts each year. His groundbreaking work has been widely featured in the media, including the PBS Religion and Ethics Newsweekly, and in numerous print publications such as the New York Times and Los Angeles Times. He is a Senior Zen Buddhist monk and senior chaplain.

Dr. Katie DeMarco is the Pain & Palliative Medicine Clinical Supervisor and a Palliative APN at Hackensack University Medical Center where she provides specialty palliative services to patients and their family in the acute hospital, skilled nursing facilities, and in the ALS clinic. She has a passion for translating palliative evidence based guidelines and strategies to the bedside and being an innovative change agent. Since 2009, Katie has supported and led the growth of the Hackensack Palliative Care Service. Katie has a BA in Human Services, a BS in Nursing, a Masters of Health Science in End of Life Care, Masters of Nursing in Family Practice, and in 2015 she earned a clinical Doctorate in Palliative Care. She is a certified family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a board-certified Hospice and Palliative Care Advanced Practice Nurse by the HPCC. Katie participates in state and national organizations and initiatives such as the NJ Department of Health Palliative Care Work Group, NJ Governor’s Council for Palliative and End of life care, member of the Goals of Care Coalition of New Jersey, HPNA APN Advisory Council, and she is a past president and the current VP, Health Policy/Legislation & Community, for the NJ Palliative Care APN Consortium. Katie is passionate about mentoring others, participating in palliative research and enjoys editing, and writing palliative articles and chapters.

Graduate of Rutgers University in 2003 with a Masters in Social Work. Stephanie have worked in health care for the entirety of my career. Stephanie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and holds certification in Advanced Palliative Hospice Social Work. She is the Social Work Manager for Hackensack Meridian Health Palliative Care services. She currently holds a leadership role in the palliative care service line as well as a clinical role in providing home based palliative care services to homebound patients. Stephanie leads numerous projects recognizing National HealthCare Decision Day, National Hospice and Palliative Care month and Compassion Fatigue. She has presented at both local and national levels in areas of social work leadership, team cohesion and communication. She loves her dogs and animals of all kind. She has a deep wanderlust and can’t wait to see more of this world. Spending time with her friends and nieces and nephews is what brings her joy.

Yvette Vieira currently is the Senior Manager of Palliative Care and Healthcare Ethics across Atlantic Health System, NJ. She completed her BSc. at McMaster University in Canada and worked in several not-for-profit organizations that mobilized health care access/advocacy, community support and education for individuals in vulnerable populations. She transplanted with her family to New Jersey where she co-founded a consulting company whose mission it was to create novel community networks to support older adults aging in place.

Sage is the Director of Palliative Care Services for Hackensack Meridian Health’s central and southern markets. She completed her undergraduate studies at The Johns Hopkins University and graduated from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health with her Master’s in Public Health in Epidemiology. At Columbia, Sage was awarded the Anna C. Gelman Award for excellence in epidemiology, high academic distinction, and the potential for significant contributions to the field of public health. Sage completed her practicum at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and has a special interest in oncology. Sage joined Hackensack Meridian in 2012 and has worked to grow Palliative Care Services as well as to improve quality, outcomes, satisfaction, and efficiency, while decreasing variation and cost. Sage oversees palliative care across hospitals, sub-acute and long term care facilities, several outpatient practices, and a large home-based program. The program was awarded a Circle of Life Citation of Honor in 2016 by the American Hospital Association. She also co-chairs the Hackensack Meridian Care for Patients with Serious Illness Council. Sage completed her Master’s in Business Administration in 2019 as part of a Hackensack Meridian Health Monmouth University executive cohort where she was awarded membership to Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS). BGS recognizes and honors the top 20% of graduate students from around the world in business schools accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Additionally, Sage is a Fellow of the New Jersey Healthcare Leadership Academy and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
